Nifty Top Gainers And Losers On Jan. 6: From Apollo Hospitals, Tata Steel To NTPC
Apollo Hospitals, the top gainer in the Nifty 50 index, closed 1.79% higher at Rs 7,429.15 after it rose as much as 2.39% during the day.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd., Tata Consumer Products Ltd., and Titan Co. emerged as the top NSE Nifty 50 gainers during the trading session on Monday.
On the flip side, Tata Steel Ltd., Trent Ltd. and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. were the worst performers of the benchmark index.
Indian frontline equity indices declined the most since Oct. 3, 2024, ending lower for the second consecutive session on Monday as a broad selloff in sparked high volatility and loss of investor confidence. The Nifty 50 closed 388.7 points or 1.62% down at 23,616.05, the lowest since Dec. 20.
Top Gainers
Apollo Hospitals, the top gainer in the Nifty 50 index, closed 1.79% higher at Rs 7,429.15 after it rose as much as 2.39% during the day. The stock saw a gain in an otherwise weak market after the Union Health Ministry confirmed the detection of three cases of Human Metapneumovirus, or HMPV, in India. Other hospital stocks also saw an uptick.
Tata Consumer Products was also among the key gainers of the day, as its stock closed 0.79% higher at Rs 946.9 apiece on the NSE.
Titan's stock rallied 2.23% to Rs 3,528.5 and closed 0.54% higher on after it reported a 24% year-on-year growth in revenue on a standalone basis in the third quarter. This was on the back of 25% year-on-year increase in domestic jewellery demand.
HCL Technologies Ltd. also closed in the positive after it rose 1.37% to touch Rs 1,973.40. At the session's close, however, it pared most of the gains and was up only 0.1%.
Top Losers
Tata Steel shares plunged up to 5.07%, before closing 4.47% lower at Rs 132.18 apiece. Trent fell as much as 5.1% to Rs 6,935.25 but it saw some recovery and closed 4.23% lower.
BPCL shares also closed 3.9% lower at Rs 284.85 as crude oil prices extended their gains into the second week of the year.
Coal India and NTPC were also amongst the worst performers for the day, as they closed 3.79% and 3.94% lower, respectively.
