FPIs Stay Net Sellers For Second Straight Session

In 2025 so far, the FPIs have sold equities worth Rs 98,229 crore.

Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the second straight day on Thursday as they offloaded stocks worth approximately Rs 3,311.6 crore.

Domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers for the 12th straight session as they bought equities worth Rs 3,907.6 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

The FPIs sold stocks worth Rs 1,881.3 crore on Wednesday. In February so far, the overseas investors have net offloaded equities worth Rs 3,715.1 crore.

In 2025 so far, the FPIs have sold equities worth Rs 98,229 crore. In January, they offloaded stocks worth Rs 78,027 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.'s data.

India's benchmark stock indices posted a third consecutive day of losses on Thursday, as financial heavyweights HDFC Bank Ltd. and ICICI Bank Ltd. underperformed.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 19.75 points or 0.09% lower at 22,913.15, while the BSE Sensex closed 203.22 points or 0.27% down at 75,735.96.

Intraday, the Nifty fell 0.52% but stayed above the crucial support at 22,800, while the Sensex lost 0.63% to slip below 75,500. The session also marked the weekly expiry for Nifty contracts.
