Andreessen Horowitz Leads Mainframe’s $19.5 Million Funding

Silicon Valley venture-capital investor Andreessen Horowitz led a 17.3 million-euro ($19.5 million) equity investment into cloud-gaming company Mainframe Industries Oy.

The Series B funding round brings total investment into the company to 29.9 million euros, the Helsinki-based company said on Tuesday. New investors included Twitch Interactive Inc. co-founder Kevin Lin and King.com Ltd. co-founder Riccardo Zacconi. Huuuge Inc. founder Anton Gauffin, Dreamhaven Inc. and all previous investors, including Riot Games, also invested. No valuation was disclosed. 

Mainframe is developing a cloud-native massively multiplayer online game playable on various devices, and has hired staff from companies including Ubisoft Entertainment SA, Blizzard Entertainment Inc. and Amazon Web Services Inc.

The round also included a 3 million-euro loan from Business Finland.
