In a setback for debt-laden carrier SpiceJet Ltd., the Delhi High Court has summoned the chief executive officer and the chief operating officer of the airline in connection with a case filed by engine lessor Team France 01 SAS.

Team France filed a case to enforce a high court ruling directing SpiceJet to pay it approximately $603,871. Incidentally, both the CEO and the COO positions at SpiceJet are lying vacant as of now.

In May, the Delhi High Court had directed SpiceJet to pay Team France the amount. The airline's failure to make the payment on time prompted Team France to file a petition seeking execution of the high court's decision.

In the hearing on Dec. 10 when the summons were issued, the counsel representing SpiceJet sought an adjournment in the matter. The counsel's request did not sit right with the high court, which forced it to direct the personal presence of the CEO and COO.

The high court's order specifically notes that appearance through the video conferencing mode had been explicitly denied.
