The Delhi High Court dismissed InterGlobe Aviation Ltd.-run IndiGo's petition against partially shifting its operations from Terminal 1 of the Delhi International Airport to the newly made Terminal 2. The high court, however, did extend the deadline to shift its operations to Feb. 15 from Jan. 4.
The Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd. (DIAL) had asked all airlines operating in Terminal 1 to shift one-thirds of their operations to Terminal 2 in a bid to meet growing passenger traffic. IndiGo objected to the move saying that it will cause confusion and make operations difficult.
Earlier, the company had sought an interim stay until the final hearing was concluded but the Delhi High Court rejected its request.
Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, counsel for InterGlobe Aviation, had argued that the decision of DIAL was arbitrary, and thus, was a fit case to be changed. The Civil Aviation Ministry was also a party to the proceedings.
DIAL countered that it was not an arbitrary decision and was taken for better management of the airport.
