The Delhi High Court on Friday extended the stay on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail in the Excise Policy case. The stay will last until Tuesday and the next hearing is scheduled for June 25.

Hours ahead of his release from Tihar jail, the Delhi High Court paused the bail release order for Kejriwal after the Enforcement Directorate challenged the release order by the trial court.

The investigative agency sought an urgent hearing challenging the trial court order before a bench of Justices Sudhir Kumar Jain and Ravinder Dudeja.

Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the ED, sought a stay on the trial court order passed on Thursday evening, contending that the agency was not given a proper opportunity to argue its case.

Kejriwal, who had been arrested on money laundering allegations while framing the Delhi liquor policy, was set to be released on Friday around 4 p.m. The trial court had granted bail to the chief minister on the condition of non-interference with the investigation after his lawyer argued that the ED had presented no evidence against Kejriwal.
