The rise continues a long‑term upward trend. Records show that car tolls at Khed Shivapur were around Rs 90 between 2018 and 2020, increased to Rs 100 in 2021, and climbed to Rs 115–120 by 2024. During the 2024 election period, a temporary concession reduced the car toll to Rs 115. Under NHAI policy, toll rates typically increase by 2 to 5% annually, citing inflation and highway maintenance costs.

Meanwhile, toll charges on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai–Pune Expressway have remained unchanged for cars at Rs 320 one‑way for 2025–26. The expressway toll includes both the Khalapur (Mumbai side) and Talegaon (Pune side) toll plazas. LCVs and minibuses are charged Rs 495, buses Rs 940, and multi‑axle vehicles between Rs 1,630 and Rs 2,165.

For motorists travelling from Pune to Mumbai, the minimum toll cost remains Rs 320 when using only the expressway. However, those entering city limits via certain routes may pay an additional Rs 80–110 in link or city tolls, pushing the total journey cost to as much as Rs 430.

Officials have reiterated that FASTag remains mandatory, with vehicles without it liable to pay double toll. Some electric vehicles may receive partial exemptions, while minor peak‑hour surcharges of up to Rs 10 can apply at select plazas.
