Mayawati Indicates End Of SP-BSP Alliance, Says Will Fight All Elections Alone

Mayawati Indicates End Of SP-BSP Alliance, Says Will Fight All Elections Alone

Bahujan Samaj Party will contest all elections in the future on its own, party president Mayawati said Monday, indicating an end of the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh.

The announcement came a day after Mayawati held a meeting with party workers to review the BSP's showing in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

"SP's behaviour after the elections has forced the BSP to think: Will it be possible to defeat the BJP in the future...which is not possible," she tweeted.

"Therefore, in the interest of the party and movement, the party will contest all small and big elections on its own strength," Mayawati said in a series of tweets.

The BSP entered into an electoral alliance with Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party and Chaudhary Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections. The SP-BSP alliance, however, failed to make an impact in Uttar Pradesh. While the BSP managed to win 10 seats, SP got five seats and RLD drew a blank.
