Gujarat Elections 2017: Repolling Begins in 6 Polling Stations

Gujarat Elections 2017: Repolling Begins in 6 Polling Stations
Phase I of Gujarat elections was marred by allegations of faulty EVMs and EVM tampering via Bluetooth.

Repolling in 6 stations began on Sunday, 17 December, a day ahead of the Gujarat election results. The Election Commission said on Saturday, 16 December, that repolling would be conducted at six booths in four Assembly constituencies in Gujarat.

Fresh voting will take place at two booths each in Viramgam and Savli constituencies and one each in Vadgam and Daskroi constituencies.

The poll body, however, did not specify the reason for fresh polling.

The EC also ordered that Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips be counted at 10 booths in seven constituencies, as the presiding officers of these booths had failed to wipe out the votes cast during the mock poll from control units.
