The awarding body for the World Expo will propose a delay of one year to Dubai's 2020 showcase because of the global coronavirus pandemic.

The Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions said Tuesday in a statement that it will ask its member states to vote on the proposal. Dubai's Expo organizers last month requested it study delaying the start by a year to October 2021.
