India's air strike in Pakistan's Balakot today has brought about a “certain mood of patriotism” which is engulfing the country right now, said Rajan. “When soldiers get killed, the country comes together.”

Rajan, in his interaction with Bloomberg, said that "Kashmir is a tragedy” which started in 1947 and the current situation shows that the youth in Kashmir are increasingly frustrated with the economic situation. “They are protesting. Unfortunately, we are seeing some attempts to move that protest into something worse,” he suggested in the context of the suicide-attack in Pulwama on Feb. 14 that killed 40 soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force. “The pressure is now on Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to do something to show that he has strength also.”
