(Bloomberg) -- A Credit Suisse Group AG contractor who hired private detectives to follow a former top executive has died of suicide.

Swiss financial blog Inside Paradeplatz first reported the man's death, identifying him only as T. The man took his own life last Tuesday, according to Thomas Fingerhurth, a lawyer for private investigative firm Investigo. The deceased had hired Investigo on behalf of Credit Suisse to follow its former top wealth management executive, Iqbal Khan.

The bank hired detectives because of fears Khan would poach employees after moving to UBS Group AG. The surveillance became front page news in Switzerland, forcing Credit Suisse to move ahead rapidly with a probe as some Swiss press expressed outrage and called for Chief Executive Officer Tidjane Thiam's ouster.

The bank's board met Monday to discuss the findings of the investigation by law firm Homburger and is expected to make its conclusions public on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Credit Suisse didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.
