Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending his first ever press conference since coming to power in 2014, days ahead of the Lok Sabha election results. Modi has been frequently criticised by the opposition parties for not facing the media's scrutiny in his five years as prime minister.
BJP President Amit Shah addressed the press conference saying that the party is confident that they will come back to power with an even bigger majority than 2014.
Shah then went on to list the government’s achievements and the groundwork BJP staff has done during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the media now. He begins by apologising for arriving late. He goes on to praise India’s secularism and unity.
For me the elections were about expressing gratitude to the people of India. I have said thanks wherever I went. And I am here to thank you too. The journey we had started, we need the people’s blessing to move forward with it.
