The Mahagatbandhan has released its official manifesto called 'Tejashwi's Prann' (oath) for the forthcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections on Tuesday.
The manifesto of the Grand Alliance promises government jobs to at least one person in the family in the state, in order to address the problem of youth unemployment. The coalition has promised to provide young people with jobs within 20 months of being in power.
Apart from this, the manifesto also highlights that Jeevika Didis or Community Mobilisers will be given Rs 30,000 as a guaranteed monthly wage, and interest on any loan they have taken hitherto will be exempted. Moreover, they will be lent interest-free loans for the coming two years.
An initiative by the Bihar Government, Jeevika aims to alleviate poverty and work towards socio-economic empowerment of the rural underprivileged through the formation of Self help Groups.
Jeevika cadres will be allotted an additional Rs 2,000 per month for the purpose of execution of administrative activities. The 'Cadres' are community members selected, trained, and deployed by the Community Based Organizations.
The manifesto also highlights the formation of a committee for drafting a policy for regularizing all contractual and outsourcing workers.
Another crucial promise by the alliance aims to implement the Old Pension scheme or OPS.
Other promises include relevant policies for skill development of SHGs in the sectors of IT Parks, Special Economic Zones (SEZ), Dairy-based industry, Agro-based industry, Health Services, Agriculture, Food Processing, Renewable Energy, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Tourism.
Creation of Educational City, Industry Clusters, and five new business proposals on 2,000 acres of land in the state, launch of 'Mai-Bahin Maan' Yojana, pension scheme for the elderly and differently-abled individuals, free electricity for up to 200 units, and a regulatory law providing protection to women from harassment by microfinance companies during loan recovery, are some of the other key promises in the manifesto.
