(Bloomberg) -- Ukraine, a key transit nation for Russian natural gas supplies to European households and power plants, started the six-month winter heating season that began Oct. 1 with the lowest inventories since at least 2014 after halting purchases of the fuel from Russia 11 months ago amid a price dispute. The European Union is seeking gas talks in Moscow before temperatures drop further to ensure the fuel continues to flow smoothly.
