CEA V Anantha Nageswaran's Tenure Extended Till March 2027
V Anantha Nageswaran, who was appointed as the chief economic adviser in January 2022, has been given an extension of two more years.

The term of Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran has been extended by two years, according to an order issued by the Department of Economic Affairs on Thursday.
The tenure has been extended till March 31, 2027, the order stated.
The extension comes days after the presentation of Union Budget for financial year 2025-26, in which Nageswaran played a crucial role as the top economic adviser of the government.
Earlier, NDTV Profit had exclusively reported that the government is considering to extend CEA Nageswaran's tenure as it favours continuity in key economic leadership.
In his role as the CEA, Nageswaran has been a key member of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's team. He has led the preparation of economic surveys over the past three years, which serve as the precursor for presenting the Union budgets.
Nageswaran, 62, was first appointed as the CEA in January 2022 for a three-year tenure. Previously, he served as a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister from 2019 to 2021.
Nageswaran, an IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, taught at several business schools and institutes of management in India and in Singapore before working with the Indian government..
He was the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and a distinguished visiting professor of Economics at Krea University.
In terms of education, he holds a post-graduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
