Dharavi Records 14 New Cases Of Covid-19, Total Tally At 344, Including 18 Deaths

Dharavi recorded 14 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 today, taking the total count of infected people in Mumbai's biggest slum to 344.

Of the 14 cases, four cases were recorded from Kunchikurve Nagar, two each from Mukund Nagar and 90 Feet road and one each from Matunga labour camp, Kuttiwadi, Dhorwada, Transit camp, 60 Feet road and Dharavi Koliwada, said Kiran Dighavkar, assistant commissioner in charge of the G/North Ward in Central Mumbai.

Among the latest to test positive are seven women aged between 5 years and 65 years and seven men aged between 21 years and 70 years.

So far, 18 people have died because of complications related to Covid-19 in Dharavi, a sprawl of shanties spread over 240 hectares with a population of 8.5 lakh and over 13,000 small businesses.

A total of 70,000 people have been screened in Dharavi so far, Dighavkar wrote on Twitter today.

According to the data by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra has 9,318 cases of Covid-19 so far.
