The coronavirus is roaring back in U.S. cities after months of crisis centered in more rural areas, with hospitalisation in the country reaching a record. Cities from Newark to San Francisco announced new restrictions to help cope with the surge, as cases in the U.S. top 1 million in the first 10 days of November alone.
The resurgent virus also continued its deadly spread across Europe, with France and Italy reporting the most fatalities since April. Lebanon announced a nationwide lockdown, and Moscow adopted a raft of new restrictions as the number of new infections surged.
Globally, confirmed coronavirus cases near 51.3 million with more than 1.26 million dead.
