India continues to add new coronavirus cases at record pace just as the nation announced the fourth phase of lifting lockdown restrictions to revive an economy that's headed toward a rare annual contraction in more than four decades.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said he will isolate himself for the next four days as two of his staff members, including a personal security officer, have tested positive for coronavirus. His test report came negative.
"My OSD (Officer on Special Duty) and PSO (Personal Security Officer) have found corona positive. My (test) report is negative at the moment, but I will be in isolation for the next four days as a precautionary measure. This is a period of crisis, everyone please be careful," he tweeted in Hindi.
A public relations department official said Baghhel will be in isolation at his official residence here.
Chhattisgarh's Covid-19 case tally stood at 28,746 as on Aug. 29.
Singer Lata Mangeshkar's building has been sealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation as a precautionary measure amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 90-year-old singer lives in Prabhukunj building at Peddar Road in south Mumbai. The Mangeshkar family, in a statement, said the building was sealed as it houses many senior citizens.
"We have been inundated by calls all evening enquiring whether Prabhukunj is sealed. The Building Society and the BMC have sealed it from the onset of the epidemic as we have senior citizens at home and in the building and it is mandatory to take these precautions," the statement read. "Even our usual festive Ganesha celebrations was a simple familial one this time to co-operate and support social distancing.”
The family urged people not to indulge in speculation.
