India's daily infection rate stayed below 15,000 for the second straight day, as the country's vaccination drive approaches the 100-crore doses landmark.
As many as 13,956 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry's update as of 8 a.m. on Oct. 16. That compares with 19,582 recoveries in the same period.
Active cases also continued on their downward trajectory, with the tally now standing at 1.89 lakh, the lowest it has been since March 11.
