Bharatiya Janata Party's resounding win in the Uttar Pradesh election has propelled the Nifty 50 Index to its lifetime high of 9,122.75 on Tuesday.
The index has also posted its best year-to-date gain in five years, rising 11.4 percent so far this year. It had gained a little over 18 percent over the same period in 2012.
Idea Cellular Ltd., BHEL Ltd. and Yes Bank Ltd. are the top three gainers amongst the fifty stocks in the Nifty basket, in 2017. The laggards on the other hand, are stocks like Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. and Bharti Infratel Ltd.
