Historical Racial Disparity Among U.S. Consumers Surging: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- The well-being of U.S. consumers is on the rise, but not for everyone. Data from Bloomberg's weekly consumer comfort survey show a large gap has emerged between the fortunes of white and black respondents since the end of January, after President Donald Trump took office. While the current economic expansion has seen the two groups reporting unusually similar levels of comfort, the historical gap has reopened with the gauge for white respondents surging to its highest levels in 16 years.
