Asia’s oldest stock exchange BSE Ltd., a multibagger stock, has delivered a staggering 6861.18% return over the past five years, with a solid 56.24% gain so far in 2025.

Market sentiment remains upbeat — of the 14 analysts tracking the stock, 10 have a ‘buy’ call, three suggest a ‘hold’, and one says ‘sell’, as per Bloomberg data.

The Street Founder Kunal Rambhia is also in the bullish camp, recommending a ‘buy’ with a target price of Rs 2,850, implying an upside. Rambhia has pegged the stop loss at Rs 2,750.

BSE’s recent earnings show the stock isn’t just riding on momentum. Net profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2025, surged nearly fivefold to Rs 494 crore, beating analyst forecasts. Operating revenue grew 75% year-on-year to Rs 856.6 crore, fuelled by higher transaction charges as trading volumes climbed.

In a nod to its 150th anniversary, the bourse declared a special dividend of Rs 5 per share in addition to a final dividend of Rs 18 per share.

However, BSE faces a fresh challenge: proposal to shift all equity derivatives expiries to Tuesdays and Thursdays. This could erode BSE’s advantage of Tuesday expiries, with the National Stock Exchange of India also eyeing Tuesdays.

The bourse, meanwhile, said it’s waiting for clarity on regulatory tweaks around the independence of clearing corporations. It continues to push for standardised disclosures through a common contract note — initially planned for launch in April but now postponed to ensure a smoother rollout.

On Friday, shares of the company closed 0.8% higher at Rs 2,933.2 apiece compared to a 1.02% advance in the benchmark Nifty 50.
