Zomato Ltd. now wants to deliver food in 10 minutes as it seeks to replicate the fast-growing rapid-grocery service experience for restaurant meals ordered online.

"After becoming a frequent customer of Blinkit (a quick commerce firm backed by Zomato), I started feeling that the 30-minute average delivery time by Zomato is too slow, and will soon have to become obsolete," Zomato Co-founder Deepinder Goyal wrote in a blogpost on Monday evening.

The new service, called Zomato Instant, will now ensure rapid delivery of 20-30 bestseller dishes from restaurants in a particular area.

The country has seen a surge in players, including Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato-backed Blinkit, offering instant delivery of staples to shampoos.

Goyal said in the blog post that the company will pilot Zomato Instant with four stations in Gurugram from next month. He expects the price for the customer to fall with the instant model, while the absolute income of restaurant and delivery partners to remain the same.
