Zomato Ltd.'s Blinkit has launched Bistro, as the quick commerce arm has entered the 10-minute food delivery arena, which is hotly contested with new entrants Zepto Cafe, Swiggy's Bolt, and freshly funded Swiggy.

A separate consumer-facing app named Bistro has been launched and is available for download on Google's Play Store. "With strategically located kitchens and highly optimised processes, Bistro ensures your food reaches you piping hot (or refreshingly cold) in record time," the app description says.

Bistro will deliver dishes like samosas, burgers, fries, sandwiches, thalis, rice bowls, pastas, biryanis, and curries, apart from beverages like coffee, tea, smoothies, and juices. It will also serve cakes, brownies, ice creams, and a variety of sweet treats.

The service has been rolled out in parts of Gurugram currently. It comes on the heels of Zepto launching a separate app for its cafe offerings and Swiggy's Bolt announcement in October.

With this, after conquering arenas like grocery, fashion, and electronics, quick commerce companies are chasing higher frequency orders and consumers' penchant for quicker delivery timelines.

Recently, Bengaluru-based food delivery company Swish also raised $2 million, claiming to deliver about 70 to 80 items, covering a variety of categories including indulgences, snacks, beverages, and meals, in about 10 minutes.
