With Kick, Salman Breaks More Box-Office Records

Salman Khan-starrer Kick is now the third most successful movie at the domestic box office. Kick has overtaken Chennai Express in terms domestic collection, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said in a tweet.

Kick till Wednesday had grossed over Rs 228.08 crore net at the domestic box office, Mr Adarsh said.

Kick is now behind Dhoom 3 (Rs 280.25 crore) and Krrish 3 (Rs 240.50 crore) in terms of domestic box office collection, according to Bollywood website Koimoi.com.

Kick has also pulled in over Rs 67 crore from overseas markets, Mr Adarsh says, making it also Salman Khan's highest grosser in overseas markets.

Salman Khan's action thriller Kick, released ahead of Eid, crossed the Rs.100 crore mark on the fifth day after its release. Salman Khan's earlier Eid releases like Wanted and Ek Tha Tiger turned out to be super hits.

Kick is also the biggest Bollywood grosser in 2014. With Kick, director Sajid Nadiadwala has also moved into record books. He has become director whose first movie has grossed over Rs 200 crore.

Kick is a remake of the hit 2009 Telugu film of the same name and the screenplay for the Hindi version was adapted by Chetan Bhagat and Sajid Nadiadwala, who is also the director-producer of the movie. The film has been released under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. Author Chetan Bhagat said he may try donning the director's hat when he needs a new 'kick' in life.

Kick's success makes Salman Khan the first Bollywood actor to have seven Rs 100 crore movies to his credit, according to Mr Adarsh: Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Dabangg, Ready, and Jai Ho. (With Agency Inputs)
