HCL Group founder Shiv Nadar has transferred 47% of his stake in HCL Corp and Vama Delhi – the group's promoter entities – to his daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra. She is now the largest shareholder in HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems.
Shiv Nadar has a net worth of $34.6 billion, ranking 51st globally, according to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List 2025. HCL Technologies, the group's flagship company, has a market capitalisation of Rs 4.22 lakh crore, with the promoter group holding 60.81% of its shares, as per stock exchange data.
The deeds were officially filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on March 7. Stock exchange filings confirm that Roshni Nadar Malhotra will now have majority control of Vama Delhi, HCL Corp, HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems.
Who is Roshni Nadar Malhotra?
Roshni Nadar Malhotra is the only child of HCL Group founder Shiv Nadar. She holds an undergraduate degree in Communications from Northwestern University, US. She earned an MBA in Social Enterprise Management and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management, where she received the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award.
She was involved with the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, working to promote the education of girl children from Dalit and Muslim communities in underprivileged areas of Uttar Pradesh.
Before joining HCL, she worked with Sky News and CNN in production and programming roles.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra returned to India in October 2008 and began working with HCL Corporation. In July 2020, she took over from her father as chairperson of HCL Technologies.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which has invested $1.2 billion in building educational institutions and fostering transformational leadership.
She is also the chairperson of VidyaGyan, a leadership academy nurturing talented underprivileged rural students in Uttar Pradesh.
In 2018, she founded The Habitats Trust, which works on wildlife conservation and ecosystem protection in India.
She is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the MIT School of Engineering and serves on the Kellogg School of Management Executive Board for Asia.

In 2024, she was awarded France's highest civilian honour, the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour).

Since 2019, Roshni Nadar Malhotra has been producing the documentary series 'On The Brink', focusing on India’s endangered wildlife species. The episode 'Bats and Gharials' won National Film Awards in the Science and Environment category.
She also produced the children’s film ‘Halkaa’, based on the struggles of a slum child against open defecation.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra is a trained classical musician and enjoys yoga and travelling. In 2010, she married Shikhar Malhotra, the Vice Chairman of HCL Healthcare. The couple has two sons, Armaan and Jahaan.
