Backed by the sales of its latest small commercial vehicle DOST, Hinduja Group flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Wednesday reported a 56.7 per cent increase in sales in April.

The company's total sales stood at 8,686 units in April 2012 as against 5,543 units in the same month last year, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.

Sales of commercial vehicles were at 6,468 in April 2012, a 16.6 per cent growth from 5,543 units in same month last year.
It sold 2,218 units of DOST in April, the statement added.
