- Vodafone Idea's AGR dues reassessment is expected to be completed by June 2026
- Spectrum Usage Charge review is ongoing following internal license fee reassessment
- Union Cabinet froze Vodafone Idea's AGR dues of Rs 87,685 crore pending reassessment
In a key development for Vodafone Idea, the telecom department expects that the adjusted gross revenue dues reassessment will be completed by June, as reported by PTI. This is a slight extension to the earlier targeted completion date, which was March 31.
The report adds that the review of the Spectrum Usage Charge is on, following internal license fee reassessment by the Controller of Communication Accounts. Keeping that in mind, authorities have extended the timeline to June.
This comes after the Union Cabinet handed Vodafone Idea a relief based on the Supreme Court order and froze its AGR dues of Rs 87,685 crore for the period between FY07 to FY 19. These frozen dues are subject to reassessment.
The amount does, however, exclude AGR dues of FY18 and FY19, which stand finalised by the Supreme Court order in 2020 and therefore, are payable.

Replying to a Lok Sabha question in early February this year, Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar had said VIL's AGR dues frozen as on December 31, 2025, shall also be subject to reassessment by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in line with the deduction verification guidelines.
A committee constituted by DoT on January 30, 2026, will decide on the outcome of such reassessment by the telecom department.
"The Committee comprises a retired Secretary-level officer of the Government of India and a representative of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), as nominated by the CAG. The Committee shall finalise the outcome of the reassessment within a period of two months, unless extended," he had said in the reply, adding the decision of the committee shall be final, binding on both parties, that is, DoT and VIL.
Shares of Vodafone Idea are currently trading with cuts of around 2% and have fallen 13% in the last month.
