- The Maharashtra FDA suspended Bombay Presidency Radio Club's food licence after inspection
- Inspection on August 19, 2026, found dead cockroach and fly infestation in the kitchen
- Violations included flaking ceiling plaster, chemicals near food, and unhygienic refrigerators
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food business licence of The Bombay Presidency Radio Club Limited after an inspection found serious food safety and hygiene violations, including a dead cockroach and fly infestation in the kitchen.
The inspection was conducted on August 19, 2026, under the direction of Maharashtra Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.
The establishment violated provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and hygiene requirements prescribed under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Rules and Regulations, 2011.
The violations included active flies across kitchen areas, a dead cockroach and exposed cockroach traps near utensil-washing sections.
The FDA also flagged flaking ceiling plaster over food preparation areas, raising concerns over physical contamination.

Inspectors found washing powder and other chemicals stored alongside food items.
Utensils and food were reportedly kept directly on the floor, while refrigerators used for non-vegetarian food were found in an unhygienic condition.
Improper thawing practices and personal belongings, including helmets and clothes, were also found stored with food.
The FDA cited unsealed kitchen doors, waste bins placed close to cooking stoves and marks suggestive of spitting inside the premises.
The inspection found a 47% non-compliance rate at the establishment. "Citing Section 32(3) of the FSS Act and Regulation 2.1.8(4), FDA Zone-01 ordered the immediate suspension of food licence No. 11521001000201, citing public health concerns," according to a release.
The club has been directed to stop all food purchase, sale and distribution activities during the suspension. Any breach could invite stringent legal action under food safety law.
