Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. missed its meeting with the Chief Labour Commissioner on Friday, but submitted a written response through e-mail, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate said in a statement.

The joint discussion was scheduled in New Delhi after NITES—an IT employees' body—bought the issue of layoff of 1,200 employees and delayed onboarding of 600 employees before the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The onboarding has been deferred temporarily due to "prevailing global market conditions", TCS stated in the email, according to a release issued by NITES. The company is committed to honoring all the offer letters issued, it added.

TCS further added that the NITES has not established any locus standi to intervene in the matter. It also specified that the deferments are a common industry practice.

TCS clarified that it will honour all the offer letters issued. However, NITES in its statement, added that the company failed to provide any clear onboarding schedule or offer any compensation for the delay.

NITES has requested the tech company for an official time-bound onboarding commitment, compensation for the period of deferment, access to mental health support and an opportunity for direct dialogue with TCS to seek resolution.

"We also raised concerns regarding increasing reports of forced resignations, offer revocations, and legal non-compliance in TCS," NITES said in the statement.
