India's electronics sector is at an advantage as compared to peers like China and Vietnam who have been slapped with higher tariffs, according to S Krishnan, secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

"Tariffs don't don't impact just one sector...The Commerce Ministry has an active stand and response to this...we're in touch with them on this," Krishnan said, adding that the country's electronics manufacturing sector is in a "relatively advantageous space right now with respect to other countries with higher tariffs."

"We're already actively negotiating a trade agreement with the US and inputs are being provided by us," he added, while speaking to reporters.

Responding to a question on concerns of dumping, Krishnan said India is prepared to "handle all scenarios".

Separately, he added that the government will finalise the rules under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act within "six to eight weeks."
