Budget carrier SpiceJet has extended its Rs 999 offer by adding nearly 1 lakh seats. This is in addition to 1.5 lakh seats offered earlier under this scheme.

Under the scheme, SpiceJet is offering fares starting from Rs 999 on its domestic network. SpiceJet had last Monday introduced fares starting as low as Rs 999 for passengers flying only with hand baggage. Bookings for the offer are now open till May 3.

Travel period covered under this scheme has also been extended. This Rs 999 offer is now applicable on travel between June 22, 2015 and October 15, 2015 (dates inclusive).

Passengers traveling under the offer are allowed a maximum of 7 kg of hand baggage each, plus standard sized laptop bag or ladies purse, SpiceJet said. For those traveling with check-in baggage, the airline said an additional fee of Rs 750 will be charged for the first 15 kgs, and on per kilogram basis thereafter.

SpiceJet on Monday said it has opened advanced bookings up to March next year, following the nod from aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Airlines have time and again come up with attractive offers to lure more customers than rivals.

Air passenger traffic in India grew at the highest pace after China and Russia last year, registering 8 per cent growth compared to 2013, data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed. Global traffic during this period rose by 5.9 per cent, IATA said.
