Directed by RS Prasanna, the movie recorded a 19.15% Hindi occupancy on Monday. Delhi led the occupancy rates, especially in the National Capital Region (NCR). The movie saw low occupancy in morning shows, which gradually improved through the day. Its estimated earnings of under Rs 10 crore on Monday came as a result of the typical weekday drop.

In a post on X on Monday, Taran Adarsh wrote: "THE SITAARE SHINE BRIGHT IN THE OPENING WEEKEND... #SitaareZameenPar hits it out of the park in its opening weekend, with business multiplying hour by hour, day by day – delivering outstanding numbers across its first three days."

Sitaare Zameen Par: Cast, Plot And More

The film features Aamir Khan in the lead role. Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh, Brijendra Kalaand Dolly Ahluwalia are also playing pivotal roles. In the movie, Deshmukh appears as Sunita, who plays the coach’s wife.

Sitaare Zameen Par is based on the story of a basketball coach, played by Aamir Khan, who is sentenced to three months of community service after an incident of drunk driving. He needs to train a team of Neurodivergent adults.

The movie, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, was released on June 20.

This Hindi comic drama is a sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par.

With its collection so far, Sitaare Zameen Par has surpassed the net collection of Taare Zameen Par, which had earned Rs 62.95 crore in India. Sitaare Zameen Par now sets its sights on matching Aamir Khan’s next major hit, Ghajini, which earned Rs 114 crore in India.

Before its release, the movie faced a few hurdles as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked the filmmakers to make a few changes. One of the changes included adding a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the opening disclaimer.

Although Khan was initially unhappy with the CBFC's demands, the requested changes were eventually made. Following this, the CBFC granted the film a U/A 13+ certificate.
