Sensex, Nifty rise, Wipro jumps on higher sales

Positive global markets and strong earning by IT major Wipro pushed the benchmark indices higher Friday. The Sensex advanced 58 points or 0.35 per cent to 16,702 while the Nifty index jumped 12 points to 5,030 at 0925 hours.Wipro jumped over 3.5% after it reported higher than expected sales in the third quarter.
