Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., a unit of Reliance Industries Ltd., may extend the period of free services to its subscribers, said the company in a media statement following the announcement of second quarter earnings.

The Mukesh Ambani-led telecom firm is considering the extension of free services to compensate customers who were not able to get seamless connectivity across network due to interconnection congestion and the quality of service parameters, the release added.

Reliance Jio Infocomm launched its digital services with the Jio Welcome Offer in September this year. The promotional offer, which was launched on September 5, is valid for only 90 days, that is, up to December 3. As a part of the introductory offer, users who enrolled before December 3 will have access to unlimited LTE data and national voice, video and messaging services along with the full bouquet of Jio applications and content free of cost up to December 31.

This included all the Jio applications, which included JioTV, JioCinema, JioMusic, JioMagazine, JioNews, worth Rs 15,000 for an annual subscription.

In a separate press release, the company said it has received communication from the telecom regulator stating that the tariff plans offered by it are "fully compliant with regulatory norms of IUC compliance, non-predatory, and non-discriminatory".
