Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries surpassed the market capitalization of Rs 8 lakh crore on Thursday. RIL hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 1,273.55 before ending the day at 1,269.70, up Rs 23.20 or 1.86 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). At this level, the company's market cap was Rs 8,04,691.40 crore at the end of the day, data showed. Reliance Industries was the third top gainer of the S&P BSE Sensex, which closed at fresh high of 38,336.76, with a gain of 51.01 points or 0.13 per cent.
RIL shares opened at 1,244 apeice on the BSE. A total of 3.64 lakh RIL shares changed hands on the BSE. RIL shares traded with moderate volumes as compared to 3.58 lakh two-week average.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), RIL shares opened at 1,246.30 and ended at 1,266.90, up Rs 19.70 or 1.58 per cent. RIL shares hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 1,274 on the NSE, whose benchmark index Nifty50 closed at 11,582.75.
Last month, at Rs 7.47 lakh crore, RIL surpassed market cap of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
