Amid airlines in the Indian market trying to attract more customers than rivals, SpiceJet is offering a discount of 5 per cent on base fares for select flights on its domestic network.

Bookings under SpiceJet's this offer - valid for travel between May 15, 2015 and June 15, 2015 - can be made till May 22, 2015, the airline said on its website.

"The discount is applicable for bookings made only on www.spicejet.com and is not available through online travel portals, travel agents, SpiceJet's Call Centre or Airport Ticketing Office," SpiceJet said.

Destinations covered under this SpiceJet scheme include Delhi, Bengaluru, Srinagar, Jaipur, Amritsar and Guwahati. Fares vary from sector to sector depending on the travel distance, the airline said.

Jet Airways came up with a similar scheme recently, under which it offered a 5 per cent discount on one-way base fares of select flights. Bookings under Jet Airways' "Lofares" offer - valid for travel between May 9 and September 30, 2015 - are open till May 31, 2015.

Under another scheme, it offered fares as low as Rs 1,280 on advance bookings for select flights within India. (Read more)
