Navi Mumbai International Airport Crosses One Lakh Passengers In Only 19 Days Of Operations

Navi Mumbai International Airport has achieved a major operational milestone, crossing one lakh passengers within just 19 days of commencing commercial operations. The figure underscores strong passenger traction and growing travel demand from the region.

As of January 12, NMIA handled 1,09,917 passengers — 55,934 arrivals and 53,983 departures. The airport recorded its busiest day on January 10, with 7,345 passengers processed. During this period, NMIA managed 734 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), including 32 General Aviation ATMs, and processed over 79,000 bags, reflecting efficient baggage handling and operational depth.

Cargo operations also saw early momentum, with 22.21 tonnes handled since launch. Delhi, Goa, and Bengaluru emerged as the top sectors for connectivity. NMIA's integrated approach to passenger and cargo operations, coupled with modern infrastructure and streamlined processes, is aimed at delivering high standards of safety, service quality, and passenger experience.

Currently a market leader in 90% of the pincodes it serves, NMIA is designed to handle 90 million passengers annually upon completion. In its initial phase, the airport will manage 20 MPPA and 0.5 million metric tonnes of cargo each year. Spanning 1,160 hectares, NMIA will feature two parallel runways, advanced terminals, and eco-friendly infrastructure, positioning it as a key aviation hub for Western India.

The airport is being developed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL), a PPP between Adani Airports Holdings Limited (74%) and CIDCO (26%). With its futuristic design inspired by the Lotus and commitment to sustainability, NMIA is set to redefine passenger experience and operational efficiency in India's aviation sector.
