Micromax CEO Deepak Mehrotra quits; company to find successor

Mumbai:

Homegrown cellular phone handset maker Micromax said here today that its chief executive officer Deepak Mehrotra has quit the firm.

"Deepak Mehrotra has stepped down from the position of CEO Micromax, on account of personal reasons," Micromax said in an emailed response.

The company is in the process of identifying his successor and in the interim, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma would work closely with the team, it said.

Mr Mehrotra had joined Micromax in December 2011 and was responsible for product revamp, trade partnerships and overall business performance of the company.

Prior to Micromax, he had worked at Airtel as operations director (mobility business) for eight years. He was also associated with Coca Cola and Asian paints.

In August this year, Micromax managing director Rajesh Agarwal had also resigned, after allegations of paying a Rs 30 lakh bribe to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had named Agarwal and Manish Tuli, a senior company executive, in its chargesheet.
