Maruti Suzuki's total sales - including domestic sales, exports, and sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEM) stood at 1,30,699 units in August 2021, compared to 1,24,624 units in the corresponding month last year, marking a growth of five per cent year-on-year. The country's largest carmaker, while reporting its sales figures for August 2021, stated that the company's sales volume last month was affected due to electronic components shortage.

Maruti Suzuki's sales of mini passenger vehicles, including models such as Alto, S-Presso in August 2021 stood at 20,461 units, compared to 19,709 units in the corresponding month last year, according to a regulatory filing by the company to the stock exchanges.

The sales of compact passenger vehicles including models such as WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S, stood at 45,577 units last month, compared to 61,956 units in the year-ago period.

The company's total domestic sales - including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles stood at 105,775 units, compared to 1,15,325 units in the corresponding month last year. The total domestic passenger vehicles sold last month stood at 1,03,187 units, compared to 1,13,033 units in the year-ago period.

Maruti Suzuki said in a statement that vehicle production could face an adverse impact in September in Haryana and its contract manufacturing company - Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited in Gujarat. It estimates that the total vehicle production volume across both locations could be around 40 per cent of the normal production.

On Wednesday, September 1, shares of Maruti Suzuki settled 0.86 per cent lower at Rs 6,785.35 on the BSE. Maruti Suzuki opened on the BSE at Rs 6,797, inching to an intra day high of Rs 6,821, and an intra day low of Rs 6,700, throughout the trading session today.
