After Nayara, Shell Hikes Fuel Prices Sharply; Petrol At Rs 119, Diesel At Rs 123

Shell has revised its retail fuel prices with effect from today, announcing a significant increase across both petrol and diesel variants. The updated rates apply to Shell Retail Selling Price (RSP) outlets and come amid broader volatility in fuel pricing. According to the latest price list, Power Petrol is now priced at Rs 129.85 per litre, while Normal Petrol is available at Rs 119.85 per litre. On the diesel front, Normal Diesel has been revised to Rs 123.00 per litre, and Premium Diesel is now priced at Rs 133.00 per litre.

The revision reflects a steep hike in fuel costs, with Motor Spirit (Petrol) registering an increase of Rs 15.00 per litre. High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has seen an even sharper rise, with prices up by Rs 31.52 per litre.

This follows Nayara Energy, India's largest private fuel retailer, raising fuel prices last Thursday, increasing petrol rates by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 3 per litre. The move is seen as a partial pass-through of the recent spike in global crude oil prices, driven by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Fuel retailers across the country have been facing mounting pressure as domestic petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged for weeks, despite international oil prices jumping by nearly 50 per cent since February 28. The surge followed heightened military conflict in the region, which disrupted supply sentiment and sent crude prices sharply higher, squeezing the margins of oil marketing companies.
