Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, has termed the arrest of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the INX media case as "good news".
The Central Bureau of Investigation had on Aug. 21 arrested Chidambaram in the INX Media corruption and money laundering cases. Indrani Mukerjea and her husband Peter Mukerjea are former promoters of the INX Media Group.
"His (Chidambaram) arrest is good news. He is now cornered from all sides," Mukerjea said at a sessions court in Mumbai on Thursday. The bail granted to Karti Chidambaram in the INX Media case should also be cancelled, she added. Mukerjea was produced in the Mumbai sessions court to attend trial in the Sheena Bora murder case.
Earlier, Mukerjea had recorded her statement under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2010, claiming she and her husband met P Chidambaram at the latter's office in Delhi's North Block.
She also claimed in her statement that the former finance minister had asked her to help his son Karti Chidambaram in his business and make overseas remittances in lieu of granting approval for foreign investment in INX Media.
