Infosys on Thursday appointed Dr Punita Kumar-Sinha as an independent director on its board. Dr Sinha, a well-known investor, is also the wife of Jayant Sinha, junior finance minister in the Narendra Modi government.
Dr Sinha, 53, has worked with many leading firms in the US and has over 25 years of experience in fund management in international and emerging markets. She also serves on the boards of some big companies like SKS Microfinance and Sobha Limited.
Today's announcement of her appointment to the board of India's second biggest outsourcer has, however, sparked a debate on social media, with some people alleging a conflict of interest because she is Jayant Sinha's wife.
