IndiGo is set to launch two new direct flight routes from Delhi to Jorhat in Assam and Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, as per a press release on Monday.
Starting Sept. 20, the airline will operate four weekly flights to Jorhat, while daily services to Tiruchirappalli will begin from Sept. 16.
The airline says the new routes will support regional trade, tourism and business. "We are pleased to introduce exclusive direct flights from Delhi to Jorhat as well as Tiruchirappalli, reinforcing our commitment to expanding domestic connectivity," said Vinay Malhotra, head of global sales at IndiGo.
Jorhat, often referred to as the tea capital of Assam, is an economic and cultural hub of northeast India, located close to Majuli — the world's largest river island and a major Vaishnavite centre. It is also a gateway to Kaziranga National Park, boosting eco-tourism in the region.
Tiruchirappalli, known for its iconic temples like the Rockfort and Sri Ranganathaswamy, is also a growing industrial and educational centre, home to NIT Trichy and a robust manufacturing sector.
This move adds to IndiGo's expanding domestic network. With a fleet of over 400 aircraft and more than 2,200 daily flights, the airline now connects over 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. IndiGo carried over 11.8 crore passengers in fiscal 2025.
