Industrialist Harsh Goenka has spoken in support of India's aviation sector, urging people to consider the economic realities before criticising it. Amid the ongoing chaos caused by the massive cancellation of IndiGo flights, Goenka took to the X platform to say: “Criticism is valid, but the economics behind affordable flying should not be ignored.”

He highlighted that over the past 45 years, the cost of aviation turbine fuel has risen 20 times, aircraft prices have increased 20 times, and pilot salaries have gone up 50 times. Yet, airfares remain affordable.

“We'll pay Rs 5,000 for a 100-km taxi ride, but feel unhappy paying the same for 2,500 km by air,” the RPG Enterprises chairman said.
