Goldman Sachs Promotes Skoglund to Head European PE Dealmaking

(Bloomberg) -- Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has promoted Anna Skoglund to head its group advising private equity firms and large financial investors in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

She takes over as EMEA head of the team, known as the Financial and Strategic Investors Group, from Rob Pulford, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg News. Pulford has been appointed head of FSIG in the Americas and will be moving to New York from London, the memo shows.

Pulford's role as head of the EMEA cross markets group will be taken up by Olaf Diaz-Pintado, who also remains co-head of EMEA investment banking services, according to a separate note to staff. A spokesman for Goldman Sachs confirmed the contents of the memos.

Investment banks have been bolstering their teams covering buyout firms, sovereign funds and pension investors. Private equity dealmaking has soared to its highest level since the global financial crisis and shows no signs of cooling off, thanks to loose financing conditions and the record amount of capital these firms have to deploy.

Skoglund, who was a member of the FSIG team in Europe, joined Goldman Sachs in 1996 as an analyst in the credit department. She later moved to the investment banking department, working on technology, media and telecommunications deals as well as consumer and retail transactions. Skoglund was made a managing director in 2007 and a partner in 2018.
