(Bloomberg) -- Given the recent surge in U.K. sovereign yields, you could be forgiven for thinking gilts have had a nightmarish year. The truth: their returns are the highest among the world's major debt markets. While the nation's 10-year bond yields have doubled this quarter, the notes are cushioned by the rally witnessed around the U.K.'s vote on the European Union.
