Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, addressed the 5th Annual Conference of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery held at the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Adani praised the dedication and expertise of the attending doctors, highlighting their crucial role in society.

"You represent hope," Adani said, addressing the medical professionals. "And speaking of hope, let me share something personal. One of my all-time favorite movies is Munna Bhai MBBS, not just for the laughter but for the message. Munna Bhai was not just healing people with medicine, he was healing them with humanity. Healing is hope, healing is humanity."

Adani drew parallels between the movie's message and the work of spine surgeons, quoting a memorable line from the film: "Jadoo ki jhappi and surgery scalpel, both have the same thing that is called humanity."

He further elaborated on the significance of spine surgery, stating, "The spine you mend is the ultimate architecture needed for resilience of the human body. As you restore resilience to our bodies, leadership is about restoring resilience to organisations. Perhaps today this shared metaphor will remind us that the spine is both a medical miracle and a corporate necessity for self-belief."

The Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery is an international community of spine, orthopedic, and neurosurgeons dedicated to advancing the field of minimally invasive spine surgery. The organisation aims to improve patient outcomes by promoting education, research, and the adoption of innovative MISS techniques. SMISS hosts an annual forum, cadaver training courses, and provides resources for both surgeons and patients.

Minimally invasive spine surgery involves procedures performed on the spine with smaller incisions than traditional open surgery. This approach aims to reduce tissue damage, pain, and recovery time, while achieving similar or better surgical outcomes.
