December Bank Holidays 2024: Banks To Remain Closed For 17 Days; Full List Here
Banks will remain closed across India on Dec. 25 on account of the national holiday on Christmas.

Banks across India are scheduled to remain closed for up to 17 days in December 2024 amid various state-specific holidays and regular Sundays. According to the Reserve Bank of India calendar, this includes 10 holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, and seven other holidays due to week offs.
The customers must know that bank holidays differ from state to state depending on regional festivities, while all the banks remain closed across India only on national holidays. The banks also remain closed on all Sundays, and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
Next month, banks will be shut across India on Dec. 25 on account of the national holiday on Christmas.

Here is the full list of upcoming bank holidays in December 2024.
Dec. 3, Tuesday: Feast of St. Francis Xavier - Banks will be closed in Goa.
Dec. 12, Thursday: Pa-Togan Nengminja Sangma - Banks will be closed in Meghalaya.
Dec. 18, Wednesday: Death Anniversary of U SoSo Tham - Banks will be closed in Meghalaya.
Dec. 19, Thursday: Goa Liberation Day - Banks will be closed in Goa.
Dec. 24, Tuesday: Christmas Eve - Banks will be closed in Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
Dec. 25, Wednesday: Christmas - Banks will be closed across India.
Dec. 26, Thursday: Christmas Celebration - Banks will be closed in Mizoram, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
Dec. 27, Friday: Christmas Celebration - Banks will be closed in Nagaland.
Dec. 30, Monday: U Kiang Nangbah - Banks will be closed in Meghalaya.
Dec. 31, Tuesday: New Year’s Eve/Lossong/Namsoong - Banks will be closed in Sikkim and Mizoram.
Apart from these holidays, banks will be closed for five Sundays (Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 15, Dec. 22, and Dec. 29), second Saturday (Dec. 14) and fourth Saturday (Dec. 28). This takes the total bank holidays in the month of December to 17.
On these bank holidays, in-person services at branches will not be available in several states. Bank customers are advised to plan their schedule accordingly if they have to head to their nearest branch in order to get some work done. However, other services like UPI transactions, ATM withdrawals, net banking and mobile banking will remain operational.
According to Reserve Bank of India guidelines, bank holidays are generally categorised into three types. These include Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and Banks' Closing of Accounts.
